image for New Dr Who to be announced
Tennant asks: "Wasn't I an actor when I stepped into this thing?"

Matt Smith has said today that he wishes to leave Dr Who later in the year in order to concentrate on his career.

Candidates for the replacement for Smith, who has played the eponymous Time Lord since the departure of David "Where did my career go" Tennant, have now been short-listed by the BBC who are expected to announce their decision after the Christmas special to be screened next Easter.

Writer Russell T. Davis has said there have been a number of applicants. Favourites to play the Time Lord currently include French mime artist Marcel Marceau, who has insisted on performing the entire role while walking against the wind and with a permanent look of shock, Carry On legend Barbara Windsor, the Reverend Ian Paisley, former South African president Nelson Mandela and theatrical legend Dame Carlos Tevez.

Make Big Stu's day - give this story five thumbs-up (there's no need to register, the thumbs are just down there!)

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
