Knowing that the space shuttle program is nearing its conclusion, many NASA astronauts have been mulling over what to do with the rest of their lives.
At a pub on Friday night, as they watched news coverage of the Royal Wedding, a group of them made an important decision. Seeing all the hats worn by the Royal Family, the guests, and the onlookers lining the London streets, the idea came to them in a flash. Their future was in hat design and sales. Eureka!
Hats that are silly, stupid, awkward, ugly, weird? In short, hats that are out of this world? Right up their alley, they figured. The more ridiculous, the better; when it comes to hats, anything goes, they observed.
One of the astronauts commented, "Spacey, that's for sure. Hey, we know about all that stuff. We'll fit right in." Another pointed out that space suits, with the bubble-top headgear, would also be inspiration for their work. Then there are the extra-terrestrials they've come across -- y'know, the ones with the pointy little heads. They should definitely provide some design ideas. "And they may be customers too," added one of the astronauts with a big smile.
Thousands of folks all over the globe are eager to buy into the new firm. It sounds like a winner.
Everyone won't get the opportunity, of course. Rumor has it, though, that the Mad Hatter has vaulted to the top of the list of approved investors. Hats off to him!
