The joke: "How many goldfish does it take to make one goldfish stick?" is becoming one of the most told jokes in bars and pubs. The reason is that goldfish sticks are now the number one hottest new pub food both in the United States and Great Britain.
"Forget chicken wings," said Angus McGee, owner of Duffy's Tavern in Dublin. "Goldfish sticks with a side of pickle chips is now our most requested finger food."
No one really knows how the tiny little goldfish became the food of choice for so many sots the world over. Some say it's a secret ingredient akin to that used by KFC in its chicken batter that makes goldfish sticks so tasty.
Whatever it is, goldfish sticks are selling so fast that goldfish farms are popping up all over the place. The largest goldfish farm in America is located in Detroit, Michigan, and residents there are hoping that this latest food craze could help dig Detroit out of its current economic crisis.
Detroit's mayor is even going so far as to say that if the current demand for goldfish sticks continues, Detroit's "Motor City" moniker may be changed to "Fin City."
By the way, the punchline to the joke is "to what?"
