image for Pound rallies; Brown optimistic

The British Pound rallied in the markets today, rising an impressive 8% against the Borneo wogga bean. There are now 244 wogga to the Pound.

The GDP was still disappointing against most "major" currencies, but Gordon Brown was optimistic.

Speaking at the opening of a new anti-graffiti initiative on a rough Manchester estate, the PM said

"This is the start of the green shoots of recovery. I am determined to keep being the best man to help Great Britain out of this global downturn, through a mixture of Doing the Right Thing, Not Apologising for My Part in the Recession, World-Class Leadership, Scottish Prudence, and Letting the Jade Goody nonsense bury Bad News."
