Moscow, Russia - (Rioters): Russia's Zavod Imeni Likhacheva - or ZIL - automobile company has slammed claims that Nazis are no longer involved in the manufacture of BMWs as risible.
The news comes amid reports that the Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (BMW) has been hiding a dark secret for decades.
This involves its majority shareholder, the Quandt family, which made a fortune during the World War II through Hitler's Nazi war machine and by using the forced labor of thousands at concentration camps.
ZIL sources said today that the Quandt family escaped punishment and saw their fortunes soar as their slave-labor empire flourished by tacit collusion with the descendants of war criminals now running the country.
ZIL is Russia's top luxury limousine manufacturer and prides itself on its market positioning.
The company's statement today said that market rivals BMW have always benefitted from the 'close ties between members of the Quandt family and the Nazi regime's leadership' according to news sources.
The founding father of the BMW empire Günther Quandt was married to Magda Ritschel who later married Adolf Hitler's closest pal Joseph Goebbels, according to records.
And Quandt's eldest son by Magda 'was raised by Goebbels', later becoming a top executive of his father's business.
"The family is now worth billions of dollars," the Russian source continued.
"Just think of that next time you fill up the tank."
