Non-Wiccans Are Seeing Red

Watch out Starbucks! Coffee & A Spell, a coffee shop in Kenmore, a village in New York State's Erie County, is bewitching customers by not only serving up gourmet coffee but by also providing tarot readings and assorted reading materials in the back room.

Owner Onyx Serpentfire, a practicing Wiccan, points out that she welcomes not only Wiccans but customers of all religions. "Yeah, right" whined one non-Wiccan customer who claims that she received poor service and wasn't even invited to enter the back room. She did admit, however, to loving the coffee. "I'm thinking of converting," she confided, "the coffee might make it worthwhile."

Wiccan friends and supporters of the owner predict that, once the grand 'formal' opening is held at the end of the month, Coffee & A Spell will wallop the competition.

One small glitch. A member of PETA was appalled to see the book, "How to Turn Your Ex-Boyfriend into a Toad," in the coffee shop's reading room. "I wouldn't think of inflicting my scum of an ex-boyfriend on the amphibian kingdom," she said indignantly, adding, "toads have rights too, and we have to protect them. Unless the offending book is removed, we may decide to picket the coffee shop."
