Cyberspace - (ShockHorror Press): The founder of ailing internet encyclopaedia Wikipedia, Larry Sanger, has told the press today that the site is a 'load of old bollox' in what UK press sources have described as a classic Ratner moment.
This refers to the 1990s UK jewellery chain owner Gerald Ratner who caused meltdown in his business empire after claiming that his bling products were 'total crap'.
"We always knew Wikipedia was dodgy," Sanger said today.
"When it got slammed for being easily vandalised, partisan, lacking impartiality, inconsistent, systematically biased in favor of sub-literate morons and a Bush Administration tool for wholesale disinformation, we took it as a satirical compliment.
"And we laughed our heads off because 'moronic crap' was the most accurate and factual self-description we could ever publish.
"But I went along with it to see just how far the disinformation industry would go and where the money was coming from.
"And then in 2003 when the WMD story struck we knew who the bollox were.
"The yellowcake uranium story was the icing on top of the proverbial.
"Look no further than Karl Rove in DC and the Daily Fascist in London.
"You couldn't make it up even if you tried."
