BURLINGTON, Vermont - Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream has just celebrated its 35th anniversary and sales are booming.
Owners Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, known as the Ice Cream Kidz, recently provided 6,000 pints of ice cream to a PETA convention in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Jerry joked that PETA had filed a letter of protest two years ago when they thought - erroneously, that one of the ingredients in their ice cream came from the belly buttons of penguins.
DNA tests proved conclusively that those allegations were totally false.
The executives with PETA issued a letter of apology and agreed to purchase 6,000 pints of Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream to be distributed throughout the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas, where ice cream is a rarity.
Ben Cohen appeared on Live With Kelly & Michael and he announced that they had just signed the amazingly slender Christina Aguilera to be the spokeswoman for Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream.
SIDENOTE: Jerry Greenfield added that they were sorry to have to turn down Kirstie Alley for the obvious reason.
