Dick's food truck is a friendly, family owned business that has recently sprung up in The City. Richard, the food truck owner, reports that business is swelling. Customers rave about the plentiful, mouth-watering fare. Promoted through word-of-mouth, Richards food truck has grown exponentially; and now has hipsters lining up to eat a bag of Dick's.
Mobile food vendors, or "food trucks" are an up and coming venture in the city. And they are fast becoming a growing interest for city hipsters and food nerds. But Dick's Food Truck has crossed over and is pricking the interest of cube dwellers and blue collar folks too.
What makes this food truck so special is that regular people are promoting the new venture. Word on the street is -that's just the tip of the iceberg for this expanding business. But is this bulge in food truck popularity just a fad?
"No" says Earl Amores, a recent convert. He says it is easing hipster/square relations; and then told this story: "I was driving down Broadway yesterday, when a hip young guy on a fixie bike cut in front of me, then leaned on my car at a red light. Can you believe? Here's this kid in skinny jeans, plaid shirt, wearing clip-ins and leaning on my car like he owns it.. That used to piss me off, but now I just lean out the window and talk to them, you know; Hey go eat a big, greasy, brown paper-bag full of Dick's, they're right around the corner! Its all good now, he flashed me the universal 'you're number 1' sign and peddled off."
The menu is short and simple, the ingredients are local and the servings are available in a variety of sizes. Tell a friend! Eat a Bag of Dick's, you'll be glad you did. *Sport an ironic mustache during the month of November and get a second bag for free.
