NEW YORK CITY, NY. - Viacom has just announced today that it has bought Facebook for $500 in stock and cash.
Viacom will now use Facebook as a portal to launch new marketing promotions for its properties, like Nickelodeon, Paramount, Nick Jr., Neopets, etc.
Viacom will also change the name of Facebook to "SocialShare" beginning on August 1, 2013 because Facebook wants to improve its strategy for users to communicate with more users than ever before and like more accounts than ever.
These recent plans made by Viacom will be put to use on July 1, 2013 beginning with the countdown clock, counting down the days until Facebook changes into "SocialShare".
When Facebook changes into "SocialShare", all signage with the Facebook logo will change into a logo for SocialShare featuring a green outline of a thumbs up gesture with the words "SocialShare" written in a script font.
Sumner M. Redstone said that Viacom acquired Facebook because it wants to enter the field of social media.
Facebook will add the Viacom byline - "A VIACOM COMPANY" - under its logo on all of its signage beginning on April 4, 2012 and finishing on May 7, 2012.
