Profile: Dr. Snake - otherwise known as Jimmy Lee Shreeve - is a practitioner of voodoo folk magic. He is author of the cult bestseller Doktor Snake's Voodoo Spellbook (St Martin's Press). Snake also plays blues guitar and provides hoodoo spell casting services to clients around the world.
Dr. Snake grew up in London. Although a white man, he learned hoodoo from the late Earl Marlowe, a Trinidadian singer and root doctor whom Snake played in a band with during the 1980s. Besides music, the two would perform love spells, luck spells and money spells for people in London and other parts of the UK, and later America.
These experiences are chronicled in Doktor Snake's Voodoo Spellbook, published in the USA by St. Martin's Press and in the UK by Connections. With evocative illustrations by Chris Daunt, the book has been described as "Carlos Castaneda meets deep south hoodoo."
Today Dr. Snake divides his time between London, LA, and his country retreat on the eastside of paradise, where he cannot be reached by phone, fax or e-mail. Only true hoodoos know how to reach him there.
Dr. Snake walks on the edge of forever and always pays heed to his dreams.
