image for Syrian Woman discovered to be pretending to be a middle aged American
Hosny as she was caught and captured

Tweeters were rocked again this week when it was revealed that the middle aged American they were following was, in fact, a young lesbian woman from Syria. Sabeen Hosny was masquerading as Joe Curr, an ordinary middle-American.

"I was blown away when I found out," said Stewart Piddie of Minnesota who was one of Curr's first followers. "He, I mean she, seemed like an ordinary guy."

Joe Curr worked as an IT Support nerd at a company in Seattle called Noone Associates. There is no such company, and as such have little call for IT support. He was married with two children and lived in a quiet suburb going to barbecues and visiting family and friends.

"He used to tweet everyday," said Ida Hott of Sacramento. "I hung on his every word. They were so ordinary, and yet so deep. Nothing important ever seemed to happen to him. To be honest, I don't really know why I was hooked, he was boring. Yet he was the kind of guy I wished I'd known."

Remarkably, it wasn't the fact that Joe Curr had no Facebook presence that rumbled the ruse. Nor did anybody check on Noone Associates. Not one person checked that there was a suburb of Seattle called Common Gardens. What exposed Hosny's subterfuge was when she was arrested for being a lesbian in Syria and had to stop tweeting.

"I was really worried," said Damien Witted of Hog Jaw, Arkansas. "He was about to go on a hunting trip with his buddies. They were going to bag deer. I was looking forward to the stories from the campfire, and they never came."

Hosny had nearly three hundred thousand followers and they organised themselves via Facebook to make sure that there hadn't been a horrible hunting accident.

"The whole story started to unravel," said Brian Less, who really is an IT consultant in Seattle. "The more I dug into the story Hosny had concocted, the more it fell apart."

Less contacted Twitter, and explained the situation, and how worried they were. It was at this point that it became apparent who Joe Curr really was and via Google News they discovered what had really happened.

The former followers of Joe Curr have started a massive campaign involving Amnesty International to get Hosny freed.

"I want to know what happened on the hunting trip," said Witted. "Free Hosny!"
