image for Obama Reaffirms Ties With Poland

US President Barack Obama has ended his shirt European tour with a visit to Poland.

Obama went to visit his ancestral home in Slomnaki, just outside Krakow in the South of the country. The President's first port of call was to the local pub where he supped a pint of traditional Polish mead with his eighth cousin removed , Jerzy Adamczuk.

The Presidential party then made their way to Krakow where Obama made a speech to the assembled masses claiming that he had come to "reclaim the 'ski' that had fallen off the end of his surname somewhere along the way".

He then posed for photos with Polish President Komorowski and aimed a bandy - or traditional ice hockey stick - in the direction of photographers, before visiting a local market to buy copious supplies of dumplings, cabbage leaves and stewed pork knuckle.

There are over 10 million Poles living in the States and they make up the 9th largest immigrant group in the country.
