Tripoli, Libya - A ghostly figure riding atop a camel was photographed by an ITC crew in Libya today. The ghost appears to be Lawrence of Arabia, back from the dead, and ready to unite the warring Arabs once again. The phantom was wrapped in flowing white robes, as it raised a sword over its head. It appeared to be bound for Tripoli, before it disappeared into a dust storm.
Lawrence of Arabia was really T. E. Lawrence, a British officer stationed in the Middle East during the Great War. He was a great leader, but with romantic ideas, and some personal issues. Peter O'Toole gave an outstanding performance of him in an unforgettable David Lean film, about 50 years ago.
A close-up of the ITC video has just revealed some disappointing information. The 'ghost' is actually Peter O'Toole, looking all of his 79 years. The aged actor has also gone madder than a March Hare.
"Onward, onward to Tripoli, then Riyadh, and then...oh I forget..." wheezed Mr. O'Toole. He wrapped the flowing white robes around his body, raised his sword in the air, and fell off his camel into the Libyan dust.
