image for Germany in Shock over Plagiarism Charges against Defence Minister
Things Ain't What they Seem to be.

The sudden resignation of Karl Theodore Zu Guttenberg, Germany's Defence Minister and the country's most popular politician has sent shock waves around the world.

Guttenberg was accused of plagiarising large tracts of text and stealing ideas from other books and the internet for his doctoral dissertation.

His friends have stated that Karl was merely living up to his name and believed that, because he could read, everything that had ever been written was his property to do with as he willed.

The conservative coalition headed by Angela Merkel fears it may have been permanently damaged by the allegations and its credibility tarnished for keeps.

Other politicians in Germany and elsewhere are presently scurrying to prevent themselves from falling under the eye of possible investigations into their academic qualifications and how they may have attained them. Framed degrees are disappearing from government offices all over London.

J.K.Rowling, Steven Spielberg, the estate of Johnny Cash, three well-known British pop groups, and seven inmates of Wormwood Scrubs who are currently being held on counterfeit charges.
