Thousands of people are marching on the streets of Dublin to protest against the Irish Republic's four-year austerity plan.
Under a bailout plan agreed with the EU and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the Dublin government has accepted up to 90bn euros (£77bn; $124bn) in loans. In return, the government is to unveil an austerity budget on 7 December.
However, key to the protesters plans, rather than accept a crippling Euro debt they want to completely replace the Euro.
Seamus All, protest leader, proclaims, "We Irish are proud people. Our aim is to replace the currency we have now with The Potato. It makes complete sense. Ireland now has more Potatoes than money, and we have a great tradition of Potatoing."
It isn't just the economy that will benefit. Plans are also being drawn up for the entire entertainment industry to come onboard. Already there are plans to shelve "Who wants to be a Millionaire" in favour of, "Who wants a Sack of Potatoes".
Seamus All adds, "The Great Famine in the 1840's was a terrible, terrible thing. But fortunately, since then, we've found that they actually grow underground. So there's no shortage now."
