Thomasz Klitchcock Celebrating Hog Jaw Day In Krakow, Poland.

Nobody understands it. Nobody can explain the sudden upsurge in popularity of the township of Hog Jaw, Arkansas, USA - least of all the residents of Krakow in southern Poland.

Tee-shirt vendors in the Polish city can't get hold of enough 'I heart Hog Jaw Arkansas' shirts because no sooner do stocks arrive than they are snapped up by the locals.

City centre sausage sellers have even created a new sausage, named after the small town in Arkansas, named the 'Hog Jaw Cracker'

Even the fierce local football rivalry between Krakowia and Wisla has been put on hold as fans of both clubs join hands, wearing stetsons, drinking beer and whooping "Yee Hah!" like Adam out of Adam and the Ants in 'Stand And Deliver' Or a cowboy.

Local travel agent, Zeta McWhirter told our reporter that she has been inundated with enquiries from locals, eager to visit Hog Jaw, Arkansas.

"I do not know why Hog Jaw, Arkansas, has suddenly seen this upsurge in interest from locals, but we have had thousands of enquiries and requests for further information. Particularly from English speakers. I think the long term plan is to establish a large Polish community in Arkansas."

Krakow banjo tutor, Ziggy Plectrum is also reporting a massive upsurge in banjo playing. He said:

"It seems like all of a sudden, everybody in Krakow wants to learn to play the banjo. The Flatt and Scruggs banjo shop in the city ran out of banjos days ago, and have had to order new stocks."

Mayor Humphrey Dumpty of Hog Jaw, Arkansas said that he was flattered by all the attention that his township was receiving from Krakow in Poland, and offered to extend a warm welcome to visitors from that city.

He was insistent that any Polish visitors should exchange their Zlotys for US Dollars though, because most Hog Jaw traders "wouldn't recognise a Zloty if it came up and bit them on the ass."

More as we get it.
