The warm spell which has brought an end to the traditional Russian winter looks set to continue for at least another week. Temperatures have reached an unusually high -2 and people are starting to panic buy sun block.
The government is concerned that long dark winters might be at an end. The possibility of people mingling on the streets and hearing dissident opinion has led the government to act. Snow and ice are expected to be imported from Iceland, giving a much needed boost to that nation's economy. Government spokesman Valentine Valentinov, speaking with a revolver pointed at his head, said "The government has the situation under control. There is nothing to fear. Winter will return."
Moscovites wandered the streets today in only three layers. Many looked confused, although that could have been the ethanol they had drunk for breakfast. The Russian Met Office will make a full weather forecast as soon as the Kremlin approves it.
