image for Spain withdraws forces from Iraq, Zanzai Islands marines fill in the gap
Smoke streams from a Zanzai Island Marines landing craft hit by small arms gunfire as it approaches a key Tigres city.

In a surprise announcement Spain's PM stated that he plans to withdraw Spanish troops from Iraq as soon as possible. Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero said on Spanish television Sunday he has given orders for the removal of Spain's 1,300 troops from key Iraqi cities. Zapatero said: "The war in Iraq was a disaster, the occupation of Iraq is a disaster. I call for a grand international alliance against terror and an end to unilateral wars".

G.W Bush, during an emergency press conference, stated: " Spain is pulling out of Iraq… Big deal. As a matter of fact the move unties our hands. Every day I have to turn down dozens of offers of military contribution from all over the world. Today, I'm honored to officially announce that the vacuum created by the withdrawal of the Spanish troops will be filled by the proud state of Zanzai Islands, which pledged their support to the coalition of the willing."

"As we speak, Zanzai Island Marines are landing in various Tigres River cities, capturing key positions." "This exhibits the strength of our coalition, despite libelous articles in whimpy newspapers across the globe which falsely imply that the majority of the world stands against us on the Iraqi war. Who gives a t**ss about Spain. I'm proud to say that even in the extreme case of our staunchest ally (UK) deciding to pull out, the Republic of Babakistan is ready to commit troops to the Iraqi Liberation Effort, filling in the gap". When asked by a reporter where exactly Zanzai Islands are located, GWB responded: "Haven't got a clue. Name is cool though".
