World YouTube Day: badly planned

YouTube, the video sharing website where users can upload, share and view video clips, is a magnet for delinquents, claims a report.

The survey, published in the New Scientist, says that, over the last 12 months, the site has attracted the attentions of an increasing number of viewers who are substandardly-educated, and intellectually subnormal.

YouTube claims an estimated 100million video clips per day are viewed, and researchers have discovered that as many as 90% of these are accessed by "people with nothing better to do".

Dr Hans Zoff, of Nebraska State University, said:

"I've got nothing better to do. I view YouTube every night. The clip where the guy gets tarred and feathered, then goes out to the mall for a burger is my favourite."

The site, started by three former employees of PayPal in 2005, was bought by Google in 2006. The inaugural World YouTube Day on July 7th 2007, was thoughtlessly planned as it precisely coincided with the London terror bombings two years earlier.
