image for New Indian Law Allows Burning Of Husbands
Burping, snoring, farting - she'd had enough!

A new Bollywood film which depicts scenes of domestic ultraviolence and domestic abuse, has inspired a change in Indian law regarding marital disputes and their resolution.

Kiranjit Indianwoman put up with years of abuse from her husband, Bert, including snoring, burping and farting, before she could finally take no more, and set fire to him.

Yesterday, a court in Delhi ruled that she had been left with no alternative, and that the killing was lawful. She was found 'not guilty' and given three bowls of Basmati rice for her trouble.

To back the judgement, the Indian Judiciary passed a new law last night, allowing the burning of lazy or abusive husbands, so long as the resultant blaze didn't adversely affect or inconvenience neighbours.

Indian Justice Department spokesman Mahatma Coat said:

"This ruling makes sense. The poor woman needed the rice."

Miss World Shilpa Shetty, who plays the arsonist-wife in the film, 'Provoked', said:

"It's not racism. It's bullying. And if your husband won't let you have the TV because Match of the Day is on, burn the son of a bitch!"

The film, which opens once the ironing has been done, is expected to be a big hitwith Feminists and carpet-munchers.
