image for Bill Gates Adopts Madonna (and child)
Thou shalt worship no other God but me

The controversy surrounding Madonna, over the adoption of a Malawian baby, took an unexpected twist when Bill Gates became involved in the proceedings.

The Microsoft chairman stunned reporters when he announced that he was going to adopt Madonna (and child), and raise them as his own children, in his prestigious mansion on the shores of Lake Washington.

Madonna's husband, Guy Richie, a successful film director, had apparently agreed to the adoption and had told a reporter from Time magazine that he had no objections to his wife being raised by the world's wealthiest man. He added that he knew that Mr Gate's multi billion pound lifestyle would give his wife all of the love and care that he was unable to give.

Speaking from the den of his 40.000 square foot property in the Seattle suburb of Medina, Bill gave the reasons for his actions.

"The world is full of superstars who need love and care", he explained. "These desperate people do not have the means to provide the things that will give them a stable lifestyle and I have taken this desperate action to give Madonna a stable future."

Recent press reports have been suggesting that Madonna's adoption was only the beginning of a dangerous trend whereby rich people were considering adopting fading superstars.

Rumours have been circulating that an unnamed American lady from Kentucky was about to adopt Sir Paul McCartney because of the pain that he was suffering in his acrimonious devorce.

Vague magazine also hinted this week, that George Michael, the bad boy of pop music, had also been the subject of a potential adoption scenario.

Other names thought to be up for adoption include Sir Elton John, Prince Charles and Jordan.

Bill summed up the concerns surrounding the adoption of fallen superstars in a press release made today.

"I felt as though Madonna was playing God", he reasoned.

"Nobody should be allowed to play my role of God" - he explained - "at least not without MY permission," the mighty God of Microsoft decreed.
