image for Panama fast becoming anti-terror hot seat
Panamanian cops said his disguise was a dead giveaway

Panama City - Just days after seizing a cache of Cuban missile parts destined for Kim Jong-Un's crackpot dictatorship Panamanian anti-terror cops have scored another brilliant hit with the detention of a fugitive ex-CIA operative wanted on abduction charges.

Robert Seldon Lady, former CIA Milan chief, was sentenced in absentia by Italian courts to nine years imprisonment for his role in the 2003 extraordinary rendition of Egyptian cleric Abu Omar.

Twenty-one co-suspects also received lengthy custodial sentences for their illicit role in capturing Abu Omar and subsequent waterboarding in Cairo where the prospect of being charged with torture are said to be extremely rare.

Late last night Panamanian officers nabbed Lady close to the Costa Rican border after a fake beard and glasses disguise failed to fool highly trained anti-terror cops.

"He may have been en route to Ecuador," a Panama City police department source commented, "current favorite bolt hole of fugitives worldwide."

Italian courts may now try to extradite the former US spook whose claim to immunity from prosecution over Iraq War stuff has yet to be tested in a European court.

Expect some very red faces at the President George Herbert Bush Center for Intelligence [sic] in Langley, Virginia as a full-scale diplomatic row erupts.
