London, England-- Although they haven't ended yet, the 2012 Olympic Games in London seem destined to go down in history as the best! Everyone seems to agree there are three things that make it the most beloved Olympics ever--the weather, the food, and most especially the British people.
"I just fell in love with the English people!" laughed Jamilla Richards as she returned to Washington DC. "Everyone was so kind and helpful. We were staying in a hotel, but an English family invited us to stay at their townhouse in Belgravia. Such hospitality--I can't wait to go back!" she smiled.
Many visitors to London were also astonished by the fine cuisine of the British people. Many of them enjoyed their first taste of fish 'n' chips and tea with scones--everyone loved them!
The weather was also a surprising delight to many people. London is farther north than most world capitals, so people can enjoy the summer sun without fear of sunburn or intense heat.
But by far, the deepest regards were for the British people themselves:
"Can't say enough good things about the Brits!" said Jerry Smart from San Francisco. "Witty, intelligent, funny--but most of all brave!"
Mr. Smart made a side trip to Coventry, where he laid some flowers at the site of the famous cathedral the Nazis destroyed.
"I just admire their courage in the face of tyranny so much! They all get a gold medal from me!" said Mr. Smart. "I wish the Olympics could be held in England every year!"
