image for Whereabouts of chimneys from Olympics opening ceremony confirmed
One of the Olympic opening ceremony chimneys bought from ebay

Having just recovered from his and Mr Grenouille's extensively boring speeches at the grand opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics, Lord Seb Coe, the Chairman of the Olympics, queried some of the volunteer staff as to where the 6 chimneys used in the opening sequence had disappeared to.

While most of the volunteer staff were quick to suggest that lack of security specialists G4S may have been responsible, it was later revealed that a special force of removal specialists had been brought in to remove them between scenes.

The specialists, all dressed in Primark tracksuits, and sporting Scouse (Liverpool) accents, managed to remove the chimneys, leaving no trace, during the five minutes darkness between the 'industrial' and 'hospital' themed sequences.

Unfortunately, clear direction as to what to do with the chimneys hadn't been given, and three were sold for scrap, two have appeared on ebay and the whereabouts of the third one cannot at this stage be confirmed.

Make Steddyeddy's day - give this story five thumbs-up (there's no need to register, the thumbs are just down there!)

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
