Burma's pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi is planning to travel abroad for the first time in 24 years, officials say. Blackpool Borough Council said she was expected to visit the Lancashire seaside resort in June.
A spokesman from her party told Reuters that she would visit the UK's top beach resort after wanting for years to experience donkey riding.
The Nobel laureate spent years under house arrest while Burma was ruled by a military junta. She has previously refused to leave Burma for fear that she would not be allowed to return.
Now, however, San Suu Kyi can no longer resist the lure of the stinking flea-bitten fly magnets, and the excitement of Blackpool's internationally-famous Pleasure Beach.
This story is, of course, a load of absolute bollox.
