Peel, B.R.-- The famous Banana Republic has been overthrown in a violent coup today, following a popular uprising. Witnesses said there were 'thousands of banana splits just lying around all over the place'. The Top Banana was said to be in hiding somewhere in the capital city of Peel.
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton hailed the uprising, and linked it to the Arab Spring.
"We welcome change in the Banana Republic." she said somberly. "We also mourn the deaths of so many bananas that were smashed in the uprising." she stated. She then turned to an aide:
"Where the fuck is the Banana Republic??"
Reporters in Peel believe the Banana Republic may take a sharp turn to the Left, after today's coup. The new Top Banana plans to make his government more color-blind.
"The bananas aren't just yellow, you know." said famed reporter Heraldo Riviera. "They can be green, red, brown and black." he lectured.
