image for Tsunami warning as Spoof writer caught up in Alaskan tremor!
The Krakatoa's sister ship the MV Vesuvius ran aground during an earlier Alaskan tremor

Aleutian Islands - A Spoof writer's Alaskan vacation cruise entered choppy waters on Friday as a 7.1 magnitude tremor struck just 10km below the sea bed 125 miles southeast of Atka.

South Carolina resident Morse's moose-wrestling holiday was on its second, shark-spearing leg aboard the luxe passenger ship MV Krakatoa when the quake rocked much of the northern Pacific Ring of Fire.

Now his tour of the Aleutian Arc's 300 volcanic islands is under siege as a US Geological Survey tsunami warning rattles the area's tourism shipping.

Last month Morse only narrowly escaped a Virginia earthquake's aftershocks, felt all along the Eastern US sea board and as far northwards as the Presidential vacation hotspot of Martha's Vineyard.

Hurricane Irene then blasted the area with an apocalyptic deluge, bringing back life to dehydrated predator species such as snakes, alligators and their crawling beastie chums.

Today's Aleutian tremor is the second since June and comes amid fears that the major geological faultline it occupies has become stressed at its Kamchatka Peninsula end.

The Russian oil and gas-rich subterranean treasure troves may now be in danger of being buried internally as powerful tectonic movements cause flattening of wells and fields.

"Just so long as it doesn't affect my Exxon portfolio," a garbled email message from the Krakatoa commented this afternoon.

News of any aftershocks will appear here later.
