image for Obama and Boehner agree: 'We're not good at math'

Washington DC -- Pres. Obama and House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) have reached an agreement in their debt ceiling negotiations.

The two leaders signed off on a joint statement today. It declared: "We're not good at math. So we've hired H&R Block to figure out this mess for us. We will get back to you, once they get back to us."

When a reporter pointed out that H&R Block representatives are tax return specialists, not financial analysts, Boehner responded with a smile: "I'm counting on H&R to block any tax hikes that the president might try to impose."

Choosing not to take the bait, the president pointed out the advantages of going outside of Congress to find a solution to the debt ceiling crisis.

"First of all, the guy we're working with there, Benny, is a real sweetheart," Pres. Obama said. "And he knows his stuff. He told me we might be getting back a $200 billion refund on our $14.3 trillion return. Plus, I'm getting rewards points like you wouldn't believe on my American Express card."

Asked if their new solution will be in place by the August 2 default deadline, the president and House Speaker congratulated each other with pats on the back and fist bumps.

"That's the best part about this," Boehner said. "H&R Block is filing an extension for us. We will have until April 15th, just like any citizen. Then we can start this process all over again."
