California's body builder governor Ah-nuld has announced today that he will not veto a California Legislative bill allowing same-sex marriages. This response comes following his previous announcement of appreciating homosexual people and even subtly suggested being so himself, after a very practiced 90-degree wrist snap.
After ther Governator signs the bill into law, California will join Massachusetts and the only states allowing same-sex marriage.
Gay rights activists in California have applauded the Governator, saying that is doing doing the job he promised to do and is standing firm behind the things he said in his election campaign.
Ten points for the Governator.
Governor Schwarzenegger went so far as to say, "Girlie men would veto this bill, but a real man would let the people be. If one of my future children were to come out and be gay, I would support them with all of my heart and allow them to marry their partner, no questions asked. The time has come for gays and not gays to be at peace and to let people wed as they choose."
A crowd of pro-Gay RIghts supporters cheered the Governator as he left the podium, wife Pam Shriver on one arm, and Michael Jackson on the other.
After the crowd had dissipated and few people remained at the gathering place, tea and crumpets were served inside the governor's mansion. A toast, given by Rosie O'Donnell, who was accompanied by her partner, went as follows: "A toast to Arnold, the host with the most and the people's governor. Thanks to him, all of those like us will be free to live together and be happy together. Cheers for the Governator."
It seems, now atleast, that the gays and lesbians of California will fianlly get what they've always wanted: A wedding, a partner, and the freedom to be themselves.
The main sponsor of the bill, Mark Leno, a San Francisco native and one of the few openly gay members of the California State Legislature, had tried to pass the bill through the legislature in June, but failed by four votes.
This time, the four voted needed for the bill to pass were granted and according to Leno, everything is now "Hunky Dory."
