image for Florida Pastor's 'Burn A Koran Day' Not The Best Idea
Hmmmmm....Seems Like We've Been Here Before.

Florida pastor Terry Jones, of the Dove World Outreach Centre has been advised that his idea to publically burn copies of sacred Islamic text, The Koran, on the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks is probably not the greatest brainwave he ever had.

Hillary Clinton has advised against it, the Vatican has warned that such an act can only serve to inflame an already volatile global situation, and US military chiefs have stated that such an act would in all probability arouse anti-American feeling in Afghanistan, thus endangering the lives of serving American military personnel in that country.

Pastor Jones has openly stated his views that he regards Islam as an evil religion, and its adherents as 'terrorists' but Leicester taxi driver, Tommy Gunn strongly disagrees.

Speaking from the taxi rank near Leicester bus station, Gunn - who stresses that he has no axe to grind with anybody - told a Skoob News reporter:

"I fail to see what point, if any, this will achieve. All it's likely to succeed in doing is further radicalisation of moderate Muslims. I deal with these people every day, and the vast majority of them are upstanding, law-abiding citizens, and a credit to the community. Al Qaeda were responsible for 9/11, along with numerous other atrocities around the world - most Muslims were as repulsed by these acts as the rest of us, and many have made it clear to me that such acts were certainly not undertaken in their name, and certainly not with their blessing."

A passer by chipped in at this point, saying:

"If Pastor Jones wants to make a point, there are better ways of doing it than by insulting a large section of the world's population. If he feels the need to burn something in protest, he should set light to some pit bull terriers, and the scumbags who rob and steal from the elderly and the vulnerable. The man's a total dick-head. Probably."

More as we get it.
