image for Illegal Oil Collectors could be prosecuted!
Hands off!

WASHINGTON D.C. - It was announced today that people caught collecting oil off the Gulf coast, could be prosecuted in a tough crackdown on pirates.

BP is siphoning 5,000 barrels a day from the well head and skimming another 5 to 10 thousand off the surface of the gulf to be processed. But they is concern about unauthorized collecting on the shoreline and by private boats.

"They will have boots on the ground and in the water keeping a close eye on their oil. It is really still their oil," said a commentator. "If a farmer's cow wanders onto someone's property it is still his and not the property owner's."

Asked about the administration's view on this policy, he said the full backing of the US government had been given to crackdown on the scavengers. After meeting with Attorney General Eric Holder it was agreed that the US courts would prosecute to fullest extent of the law.

The illegal oil collectors were compared to poachers and could face a year in prison and a ten thousand dollar fine if caught.

In addition, a 20 million dollar grant has been awarded by the Homeland security to keep the oil out of the hands of terrorists.
