As Al Gore was preparing to board a commercial fight from Memphis to Washington, DC yesterday a reporter caught up with him to ask about his reaction to Sarah Palin saying she would debate him on climate change but would speak in tongues.

According to the reporter, Mr. Gore's facial expression became quite solemn, as only Mr. Gore's facial expression can do. He replied, "If Ms. Palin chooses to do that, then I will speak in Pig Latin. Eer-they are-ye or-may eople-pay at-they an-cay eek-spay ig-pay atlin-yay an-they an-cay eek-spey ongues-tay" With that, Mr. Gore boarded his plane.

When the Gore statement hit the wire services a reporter rushed to the airport in New York City where Ms. Palin was boarding a private jet to San Francisco. He asked Ms. Palin, "Governor Palin, Al Gore says if you speak in tongues at a climate debate, he will speak in Pig Latin. What is your reaction?" Ms. Palin replied, "Where did he learn that, at Harvard?"

The reporter continued: "But Governor, don't you think that by saying you would speak in tongues at a national debate, that you are making a mockery of political discourse and taking it to a new low."

Ms. Palin gave the reporter one of her trademark winks and a big smile and then replied: "Uck-fey oo-yay."
