A traditional Yucatan breakfast taco. The taco consists of beef fajitas, bacon strips, habanero peppers, and peach slices.

MEXICO CITY - The Mexican Senate has voted to make Spanish the country's official language. The vote 31 to 23 was much closer than many political pundits and experts had expected.

Senator Prospero Espalda of the Mexican state of Oaxaca stated that he voted for the bill because he is sick and tired of getting telemarketing phone calls and hearing the voice at the other end of the line say, please press two for English.

The Oaxacan senator said that if he wants to hear or speak English he will move to the United States, England, or Alaska.

He remarked that one day last week he and his wife Chichita, were having lunch at a local Taco Campana (Taco Bell) and two of the counter employees (females) were talking in English.

The Senator told them that they were being extremely rude. One of the employees told him that he should not have been listening to their conversation which was very personal because she was talking about her period.

Senator Espalda said that his wife knows a little English and she said that she thinks that she heard the girls mention the words NFL football, Kevin Skinner, bass boat, and wiener.

One of the senators who voted against making Spanish the country's official language was Yucatan's Ronnie Toroblanco.

He said that the reason he voted against it was because there are a lot of people in his home state of Yucatan, who speak only Mayan.

Senator Reymundo Pataslargas of the state of Campeche, which is located on the Yucatan Peninsula, said that he voted against the measure because most of his constituents speak only Aztecan.

Senator Toroblanco said that he is seriously considering asking for a recall vote. When Mexican President Nacho Winslow heard about Toroblanco's proposal he emailed him and told him that if he wants to speak Mayan that he should move to Malaysia, China, or Manhattan.

Toroblanco emailed the president back and told him that they do not speak Mayan in Malaysia, China or Manhattan. The president wrote back EXACTLY!.

He then stated that this is not the United States and that he would gladly make arrangements for the senator from Campeche to be incarcerated at the dreaded, flea and mosquito infested Emiliano Zapata Federal Prison in Tampico if he continues stirring up toro (bull) sh*t.

Senator Toroblanco emailed the president back right away and told him that he was going to set up an Internet site where the residents of his state will be required to learn conversational Spanish by Cinco de Mayo, 2010, or risk being deported to Guatemala.
