DATELINE:WASHINGTON-- President Obama enjoyed showing off his new beard to everyone last night at his press conference. It is the first time a president has worn facial hair since Teddy Roosevelt over a century ago. Mr. Obama has been growing the beard for almost a month and was a little miffed no one bothered to comment on it. He let it be known that he wanted some comments and questions about the First Beard and today the mainstream media is glowing with praise.
"What a fine manly beard our manly president has!" oozed Chrissy Matthews from MessBC on his/her blog today. "He is both a man's man and a woman's man! The beard adds that final touch of toughness and tenderness!" he/she swooned.
Bonnie Herbe from National Peoples Radio also joined the chorus of adulation on her radio program this morning.
"He looks so sexy. So classy too! Sort of a dreamy cross between Santa Claus and Karl Marx. The beard is macho, masculine and yet somehow approachable. Well done as usual, Mr. President!" she moaned with delight.
George Stuffanoctopus from ABCD News also applauded the new beard.
"It's thick, it's rich and it's good. I want to grow a beard after I hit puberty!" cheered the forty-something Stuffanoctopus.
Only little Eddie Spaghetti from the Port Merrion Grammar School had difficulty with Mr. Obama's new look. The seven-year old wrote about it on his blog.
"I looked for it but couldn't see it. I saw something but it was only a shadow. Dunno what the adults saw. The emperor has no clothes and the president has no beard."
