The Obama-Droid 3000

In a routine briefing this morning, a spokesman confirmed that now President Barack Obama was replaced by a robotic version of himself for the inauguration ceremony on Monday.

In a move to be increase public awareness of security levels around the President, the spokesman confirmed rumours that since the 1983 assasination attempt of Ronald Reagan, there have been a number of robotic versions of US Presidents which have been used in high profile public events.

Due to the concerns around the security levels of the event yesterday, the decision was made to use the recently built "Obaba-Droid 3000" to complete the oath of office.

He also confirmed that a recent tender process was completed in order to identify the company which supplies the robotics, having seen a number of malfunctions in the "Bush-O-Matic", in place since 2001. The same, unnamed company have been used as the main supplier since the completion of President Reagan's term, however it appears initial software problems were witnessed when the "Clintron 2000" developed strange sexual urges in 1998.

Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple corp. has confirmed that he had submitted a bid to produce his proposed "iBush" product in 2004.

Until this announcement, the only country known to have allowed a robot to lead the nation, was the United Kingdom which in 1979 elected the "Thatcher-bot" as Prime Minister, only to see it malfunction and declare war over a sheep riddled island in 1981.

The Secret Service spokesman confirmed that the "Bush-O-Matic" would likely now be crushed and recycled.
