image for Inauguration Parade Crash Lands In Hudson River
A parade participant, found bobbing on the Hudson, comments to reporters after being rescued by a fairy -- oops, ferry.

WASHINGTON DC (AP Newsliar) - The parade for Barack Obama's inauguration as 44th president crash landed into the Hudson River today, sending all 10,000+ participants fleeing for safety from the icy waters and startling thousands of New Yorkers who had not even planned on attending the inauguration ceremonies.

Witnesses say the parade came in low with no engine sound, and splashed down in the western Hudson shortly before 3pm EDT. Parade leader U.S. Army Corporal Chester D. Studleyburger IV is already being widely hailed as a hero for adeptly leading the parade to a soft water landing in which there were no fatalities.

According to safety officials, preliminary evidence indicates that the parade struck a flock of geese shortly after takeoff from the west steps of the U.S. Capitol Building. Investigators are currently searching for the parade's black box, which will be taken back to D.C. for further examination by safety board officials.
