Blago Still at the Wheel

Chicago - Defying U.S. Senate leaders and his own state's lawmakers, Gov. Rod Blagojevich on Tuesday sold president elect Obama car while he was vacationing in Hawaii.

Blagojevich, accused of trying to sell Obama's Senate seat to the highest bidder, shrugged off accusations that the car was not his to sell.

"President elect Obama is no longer eligible for free parking as a senator."

"The people of Illinois are entitled to the proceeds of illegally parked vehicles and their contents regardless of their ownership."

"Let nobody attempt to taint this good and honest transaction." Blagojevich said. "As governor I am required to make this sale."

The purchaser of the vehicle in question, Jesse Jackson Jr., declared no prior knowledge of the availability of the vehicle for sale in advance of being notified by a telephone call to him personally by Governor Blagojevich, who was arrested Dec. 9 on federal corruption charges.

Obama, who is vacationing in Hawaii with his family, was not surprised by the news of the sale of his vehicle by Blagojevich.

"I just put some new seats in the car that I think he was after."
