Democrat Barack Obama has denied that vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin was his target when he said: "You can put lipstick on a pig it's still a pig."
Senator Obama claims he was talking about his childhood days when to take their minds off racial injustice Barack and his friends would quite literally put lipstick on pigs.
"Unless you have lived in a segregated society you cannot appreciate the frustration and anger that rages inside. We were poor, we had no money, and putting make up and clothes on farmyard animals was simply a way of coping with our situation. I could just as well have said 'You can put mascara on a cow' which to be honest I have also done. I wouldn't expect senator Palin to understand as she has never been a victim of social inequality".
Black groups throughout America have reacted strongly against suggestions that dressing up livestock is a part of Black-African culture. Khalid Abdul Muhammad leader of the New Pink Panther Party claims that Barack could potentially put the civil rights movement back decades.
Talking to our Foreign Correspondent Andrew Rourke, Khalid said: "Obama was caught off guard. He made an honest comment about Sarah Palin looking like a pig and is desperately trying to backtrack to save his political career. He is once again pandering to the white electorate by selling out his brothers. This story about the Black community dressing up animals is complete nonsense. Obama is a disgrace. He grew up in Hawaii for chrissake".
However in the UK support for the Democratic leader has held firm. Diane Abbott MP for Hackney North and Stoke Newington claimed that her Jamaican born parents would often talk about dressing up horses in stockings and suspenders just to ease the drudgery of everyday life.
"Obama has never been frightened to address sensitive issues. It is what makes him the finest American politician since JFK. What people don't understand is that 30 years ago poor communities had to make their own entertainment. The great thing about Barack is that he talks from experience. He has admitted that once he put lipstick on a Pig. Show me a man alive that has not made a mistake. I believe this says more about the Republican campaign than it does about Barack. They are using negative tactics because they have no real policies of their own. The future President of America admits to feminizing farmyard animals, and they call that news".
Meanwhile darling of the Christian right Sarah Palin may have some problems of her own after being caught off camera saying, "To be honest I have always admired large Black cocks". However Republican Presidential candidate Senator John McCain has promised supporters that his party's spin doctors are working hard and that there will be a full explanation of her statement before polls open on November 4th.
