image for Ron Paul Selects Ralph Nader as His VP

Cheyenne Mt CO, September 1, 2008: Presidential candidate Ron Paul emerged from his underground Libertarian Party headquarters to announce his vice presidential choice. He said "I have chosen Ralph Nader as my running mate."

A Libertarian Party spokesman indicated that since the Democrats announced their VP candidate at the Denver convention, then the Republicans announced their VP candidate; there was no point in waiting any longer. The short VP list presented to Mr. Paul contained only the following three names; Senator Hillary Clinton, Governor Mike Huckabee and Ralph Nader.

Hillary was on the verge of accepting, when Mr. Paul said "Bill was to be part of the package." Mr. Paul then vetoed "Governor Huckabee as being too big a spender." Mr. Paul nodded affectionately and smiled at the mention of Ralph's name. He said "Mr. Nader is a political maverick like me, we hardly agree about anything and I like that." The Libertarian Party spokesman added that Mr. Nader has eagerly accepted this nomination in order to come in from wandering in the political wilderness.

Mr. Paul has single handedly removed both the Libertarian Party and the Green Party from any hope of getting more than two votes in the November 2008 general election. True believers on the political right will not touch Mr. Nader with a fork and true believers on the political left are equally dismayed. Democratic and Republican party officials were happily seen in Washington DC watering holes clinking glasses (separately of course).
