image for The New Yorker Magazine cancels next week's satirical cover: Manchurian Candidate McCain
"Manchurian Candidate McCain" out for what's left of our Constitution and Bill of Rights?

New York, New York - Drawing an enormous amount of political flack for their last satire: Barack dressed in tradition African chieftain. Mrs. Obama dressed as a 1960s Black Power militant carrying a machine-gun and sporting an Afro from the same era. Both standing in the White House congratulating each other with a fist-bump while a partial picture of Osama Bin Laden hangs on the wall of the Oval Office and the American flag burns in the fireplace in the background.

"Although we are no longer bound by the Fairness Doctrine, just like other members of the media," said an editor at the New Yorker Magazine. "As a courtesy to our readers next week's cover was going to feature McCain and his wife in one of our famous satires. To show we're a fair and balanced member of the Fourth Estate, not that was even in question mind you."

According to the New Yorker Magazine art department, McCain was going to be featured on next week's cover dressed in a leather siler-studded teddy being tortured and brainwashed in an S and M like dungeon setting.

McCain's mouth gagged with a copy of the Patriot Act, hands and feet bound together with a coarse cord (marked made in China) tied to a blood, sweat and urine stained white cot with thin vertical black stripes.

Mrs. McCain dressed as dominatrix, wearing a Chairman Mao Zedong facemask, reads passages from Mao's Little Red Book. Her derrière suggestively positioned in Cheesecake fashion. A Whistler-Chinese Communist Cultural Revolution style hybrid poster of George and Mrs. Bush standing in front of the White House hanging on the otherwise gay bare cell walls. Only with George W. holding a trident instead of pitchfork, both sporting pointed tails, forming the shape of a heart. All the while, a copy of the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights is burning on an open fire in the background.

However, fearing that, that satire would catch more of the same (only from the Right), the New Yorker Magazine has decidedly canceled next week's "Manchurian Candidate McCain" cover.

"It's worse than that," said an editor at the weekly magazine. "We're getting out of the satire business altogether. Instead, we're turning it over into more capable hands like those professional satirist at "Mad Magazine" and TheSpoof.com."

In fact, from now on until the end of the election season is over in November, the New Yorker Magazine has arranged to have all its satire covers done by "Mad Magazine" and its political satires written by the more than competent and very funny writers at the TheSpoof.com.

Make Robert W. Armijo's day - give this story five thumbs-up (there's no need to register, the thumbs are just down there!)

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
