image for Ron Paul Joins Facebook, Rejects Friend Request from President Bush
"Hot damn, he still ain't replied!"

Ron Paul has set himself up to be the second U.S. President with a Facebook account. Of course the chances of him becoming the next President are about as good as President Bush's chances to serve another term, which seems about as likely as Bush getting a friend on Facebook.

Several days ago, Bush became the first U.S. President to join Facebook. He still has yet to receive a friend despite the fact that he has sent numerous requests.

"I wish other foreign leaders would sign up," Bush told reporters. "That way we can stay in touch better. I guess the American people are scared to be my friend because I have so much power. Maybe in January of 09 I will get some friends."

Ron Paul was eager to set up his own Facebook account after hearing that President Bush had his own. But he didn't sign up to communicate with Bush.

"Basically I set it up just so I could reject Bush's friend request," Paul said. "I knew that he would ask me to be his friend. But I don't want to be friends with him. That would be social suicide."

Paul does not care if he gets any friends on Facebook, but he hopes that his rejection of President Bush will allow him to gain some support.

"I ain't droppin' out," Paul told reporters. "If McCain gets the nod, then I'll get it from another party. Facebook will get me enough popularity to at least take home some electoral votes."

Paul did not comment when asked if he had received any other friend requests. He did tell reporters that he wasn't going to request any friends himself.

"If they want to be my friend, they've gotta ask me. They better vote for me, too."
