THE Spoof Newsdesk was thrown into a state of panic today, after the announcement of George Bush's death forced them to face the fact that they will now have very little to write about in the future.
Job cuts may now be inevitable in what is seen a crippling blow to the popular website, whose remaining writers will now have to find other subjects to cover.
Spoof reporter Eddie Edwards said: "I suppose it was inevitable, we were all writing stories about Bush, but only about half of them were either relevant, insightful, refreshing, or funny.
"I mean, a guy like Bush really doesn't need to have his every move reported with no regard to whether its funny or not.
"Looking back, it did actually seem a little pointless at the time, there's no point parodying Bush - he was doing a fine job of that himself. I guess we just liked having an easy target. It stopped us having to be imaginative."
But the writer said that not all was lost.
"We'll still do the occasional story about Bush if we can make it funny at least. We always did a few good ones, but in hindsight there was a lot of crap too. We'll just stop producing so much Bush stories just for the sake of it."
