A lawsuit petition was filed in Federal court today, on behalf of the Travel Gnome, citing wrongful termination and discrimination.
Lawyers for the plaintiff (Gnome) state he was fired after the travel agency found out he was gay. Sponsors complained that the Gnome had some very peculiar travel habits that lead them to believe he was gay.
"He always insisted on having matching luggage, and was constantly booking trips to New York and San Francisco. When he booked travel to New York, he spent most of his time going to Broadway musicals and came back singing snappy show tunes," Lawyers said.
When the travel agency asked the Gnome if he was gay, he denied it: "Lots of people go to San Francisco and New York with matching luggage and enjoy show tunes." (You know what they say...when you go "gay" your shoes match your bag.)
Company officials deny that they fired him because he is gay. "We fired him because he's fat," a spokesperson told reporters. "We are considering hiring a lizard."
