image for Denver's Mile-High City Two Miles High on First Day of Marijuana Sales

There were lots of lines around some stores in Denver on the first day of legal pot sales and it's obvious that it's going to help this city's economy.

Mayor: We need to set a good example here, citizens of Denver, Colorado! Let's show the rest of the United States that pot does not cause more accidents or crime. In fact, I think it sort of mellows everyone out.

Crowds applauded among the smoke.

One group were trying to be sure that the people knew they could get cancer from any smoke that gets into their lungs.

"SMOKE RESPONSIBLY!" signs were at several entrances to the city.

The only trouble anyone had was that pilots saying they had to land planes in a little more smoke and that they didn't want themselves to become more relaxed and mellow upon landing.

"Can you imagine the passengers smoking pot (not allowed of course), I announce that we are crash landing and a roar of laughter goes up?" he smiled.
