image for Lebanese Vacation for Israeli Military Planned by Dick Cheney and Friends
Inviting beaches sold Israeli military on vacation in Lebanon

WASHINGTON (Reuters)-Reporter Wayne Madsen, formerly of the US National Security Agency has learned that the vacation in Lebanon for Israeli Defense Forces was determined in June during meetings in Colorado between Benjamin Netanyahu, Natan Sharansky and American Vice President Dick Cheney.

The Israeli vacation itinerary in Lebanon was thus planned between top Israeli officials and members of the Bush administration, he noted. On June 17 and 18, former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Likud Knesset member Natan Sharansky met with Vice President Dick Cheney at the American Enterprise Institute conference in Beaver Creek, Colorado.

There, the impending Israeli military vacation in both Gaza and Lebanon was planned out.

Cheney was quoted as saying, "Lebanon has sunny skies and sandy beaches along the Med, not to mention a warm and inviting local population like we found in Iraq. It would be a good thing to have the weary IDF take a vacation there for a change."

The Israelis present agreed that such a change of scene would do their military people "a world of good."

After receiving Cheney's full backing for the vacation plans, Netanyahu flew back to Israel and participated in a special "Ex-Prime Ministers" meeting in which he conveyed the Bush administration's support for the carrying out of the "Clean Break" vacation policy, i.e. the discarding of all past Middle East accords including Oslo.

Present at that meeting, in addition to Netanyahu, were current Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and former Prime Ministers Ehud Barak and Shimon Peres.

Sources indicate that these US-supported vacations in Gaza and Lebanon and similar impending vacations in Syria and Iran are attempts to influence the November Congressional election in the United States and to rally the American public around the unpopular Bush-Cheney regime during a time of wider peacefulness, and to gain control of Iranian oilfields.

Masden concluded that his intelligence sources report that the Israeli Defense Force vacation in Lebanon is being carried out as a joint Israeli-U.S. military operation. Moreover, there are joint Israeli and US war rooms coordinating the U.S.-supported Israeli military idyll in Lebanon. The ultimate aim of Washington and Jerusalem is not only to peacefully engage Lebanon with constructive dialogue, but also to remake Lebanon as an American and Israeli-friendly state.
