The first US presidential election debate took place last night, reaching a frenzied climax at about 8pm. The two contenders, Mitt Romney and Barack Obama, verbally wrestled with each other to see who would come out on top, and who would be on the bottom.
All the pressure is on Obama. He has been president for nearly four years now, and it is his job to blow. Romney came out mouthing off loudly, and gave a penetrating attack of Obama's performance. Obama had to size up his opposition, and it was unclear who would measure up better. But it was Obama who was in for a tongue lashing, and he appeared to be finding it hard to perform for the cameras.
Romney stayed hard on him and soon Obama was on his knees practically giving him the job. The debate went on, and in the end it was a toss up to see who came first. Mitt Romney arguably won by a reach-around.
