image for Hunters Arrested and Fined for Shooting Students
Shoot first and aim later!

Two Winesboro, Virginia hunters were arrested and fined today for multiple counts which included shooting students out of season and shooting students without a license.

The two hunters, Dave Shotgun and Benny Buckshot who are both from Winesboro shot two middle school students who were in the midst of trying out for the school's basketball team which unfortunately happens to be named the Hunted Deer.

The two hunters claimed that they mistook the two students for deer because they were all wearing their team uniforms with happens to be a deer costume.

"Honestly", claimed Mr. Shotgun. "We really thought that they were deer. Heck, I was only trying to get the big one that was going in for a layup but my buddy shot the one behind him thinking that he was going to block the shot".

"The antlers that they wear with their uniforms can be really deceiving".

Fortunately for both Mr. Shotgun and Mr. Buckshot neither student was seriously injured which is more than can be said of the deer that they usually shoot.

The two hunters were both given a $200 fine each for shooting students out of season and not having a license to shoot students. Student season begins in February and ends in May. Maybe both hunters should have spent time and read the hunting regulations for the State of Virginia.

"We get this all the time", said Game Warden Larry Goose. "There's always a few bad apples trying to skirt the law and get in early on bagging a couple of students. Geez, these kids were "A" students! Man, at least shoot the dumb ones for Christ sakes!"

When asked why the penalty for shooting the students was so ridiculously low, Mr. Goose responded: "Oh not to worry because both students qualify for a Hunter license and Hunter season begins next week, which kind of explains why the hunting fields are right next to the school".
