image for Wiccan joy as Pentagon builds $80,000 Stonehenge replica at USAF training academy
The US replica will be officially opened on the Winter Sostice by retired General Colin Powell

Colorado Springs - "Silly excuse for naked revelry around a bonfire during the full moon!" is how one scornful US general put it as news of the Pentagon funding broke this week.

However for the US military's motley crew of wiccans, pagans and assorted New Age nutz the erection of the Colorado Cadet Chapel Falcon Circle is a fantastic development.

Cadets 'will soon be dancing skyclad' around the fire pit at the replica Stonehenge circle built by the Pentagon with $80,000 of US taxpayers' hard earned dosh.

And as a recruiting tool the standing stone 'temple' is expected to draw in at least another 50,000 in the next few years given growing American interest in 'shamanic ancient warrior' themes.

"Of course we don't have Queen Boudicca's remains buried here, unlike the real Stonehenge," one Top Gun hopeful admitted today.

"But we're perfectly aligned with all the world's solar temples including Angkor Wat in Cambodia, the Great Pyramid of Giza, Notre Dame cathedral in Paris and, er, Brent Cross Shopping Center in North London, England."

And in a fast-breaking news development there are reports this lunchtime that ex-Bush/Cheney Administration Secretary of State General Colon Bowel - er...Powell! - is to officiate at the Colorado facility's grand opening this month.

The outdoor consecration ceremony is scheduled for 22 December - the day of the Winter Solstice - at which additional pyrotechnic devices may be used.

"Nothing wrong with putting in a few patio heaters for the occasion, heheh!" Falcon Circle chaplain Sergeant Mother Judy O'Reilley told reporters from the Pentagon High Times.

"Wanna see the initiation video from a recent US Marines initiation rite?"
