Sebastian, alledgedly on the couch.

A five year old golden retriever from Fort Lauderdale Florida has filed a lawsuit against his owner citing that his former master violated his canine rights.

Sebastian, who has now left his owner and is residing with friends claims that his former owner, John Carlisle, failed to take him on regular walks, fed him cheap dog food and would often leave Sebastian on his own for up to three hours a day.

Attorney Mike Cantin, who is representing Sebastian said ''Sebastian has rights, as does every dog, he lived up to his side of the deal, he wagged his tail, did not jump up on the furniture, was loyal to his owner and chased cats. All he wanted in return was regular exercise, attention and good brand dog food. Mr Carlisle did not provide these things, so, Sebastian left and decided to take this legal action.''

However, Sebastian's version of events is disputed by his former owner.

''Sebastian has problems. He wanted three walks a day, I gave him two walks, he was too demanding. As for not getting on the furniture, that is ridiculous, I would often come home and find him sleeping on my bed, I agree though that sometimes I did have to buy cheaper dog food but he never complained at the time. This is a frivolous lawsuit and has nothing to do with him being mistreated. It is simply revenge because I rubbed his nose in shit last week after he dumped on my lawn'' claimed a very angry Carlisle.

As both parties prepare for court, with Sebastian seeking $500,000 in damages, both dog and former owner have already formed new relationships. Carlisle is now the owner of a French Poodle, while Sebastian has settled well into the local dog pound and is currently involved with a pitbull bitch named Dave.
